1956 Elvis Presley records ``Don't Be Cruel,'' ``Hound Dog'' and ``Anyway You Want Me'' in New York. It marks the first time he uses the Jordanaires as background singers. The two-sided hit ``Don't Be Cruel/Hound Dog'' tops Billboard's Hot 100 for 11 weeks, setting a record in the rock era that stands until 1992.
1991 Several people are injured at a Guns N' Roses concert in Maryland Heights, Mo., a St. Louis suburb. Lead singer Axl Rose is charged with third-degree assault and property damage but doesn't turn himself in for a year.
1992 Mick Jagger's daughter Jade gives birth to a daughter. She is the first grandchild for the 48-year-old Rolling Stone.
2001 Yoko Ono visits the Beatle's hometown of Liverpool, England, to attend a ceremony announcing the renaming of the Liverpool Airport as the Liverpool John Lennon Airport in honour of her late husband. |

Bob Dylan marks second week as UK No. 1 |

Bob Dylan started a second week atop the UK album chart on Sunday, May 10 with "Together Through Life" (Columbia/Sony BMG), as "Number 1" (4th & Broadway/Universal Island) by Tinchy Stryder featuring N-Dubz took the singles crown for a third week. "Life" is Dylan's first UK No. 1 album since "New Morning" in 1970, but it's his first to spend more than a week at the peak since "Nashville Skyline" the year before. |

Beatles' Catalog Re-Mastered, Digital Talks Continue |

The Beatles' catalog has been digitally re-mastered for the first time for worldwide CD release on September 9, according to a joint statement from Apple Corps Ltd. and EMI Music. But there has still been no announcement about the Beatles' music becoming available to purchase via download stores, despite constant speculation about a digital licensing agreement for the legendary British band's repertoire. |
