Enda Caldwell
is one of the UK's most enthusiatic radio broadcasters
having set sail on his career on Irish Pirate
Radio and Atlantic 252. Enda now brings his talents
and musical expertise to his weekday and weekend
shows on Radio Luxembourg.
From Irish Pirate
Radio To International Broadcaster
Enda Caldwell’s career
began on Irish Pirate Radio at Kiss FM
in Dundalk the home of The Corrs.
His international reputation was founded by making
a transatlantic transition to RTE and RTL Group’s
successful Atlantic 252. Positions
with a number of UK and Irish radio stations followed,
including Today FM Ireland,
Cool FM Northern Ireland plus he’s
been heard on air at Kiss 100 London
and he once even presented an airshift 104.9
XFM London!
Enda was a mainstay of Atlantic
252 from 2000 to 2001 and was the last
ever live presenter on the station on it’s
last live day of transmission on December 20th
2001 just before 5pm, before a stint at Today
FM then coming back into the UK market
with Cool FM followed by Wyvern
FM.In the last couple of years Enda has
done work for International CNN/ Weather Channel
Voiceover Sean Caldwell and Spyder
Harrison as an International Marketing
Director based in Florida and his voice has been
heard on Sirius Hits #1 all over
the USA on St.Patrick’s Day as their Irish
Lucky Charms Leprechaun delivering the Paddy’s
Day chatup lines like for example: “Please
allow my Irish to rub off on you” !
Airshifts for regional station Real Radio
Wales and Reading 107
followed until Enda received the call to come
to The Grand Duchy and present shows on one of
the radio stations that inspired him to love radio
in the very first place – Radio Luxembourg
when he dreamed of being a DJ on the station as
a lad growing up in Ireland listening in the late
80’s to “The Great 208”
and Luxy DJ’s at the time like Jodie Scott,Peter
Anthony,Tony Prince,Gary King,Shaun Tilley,Sandy
Beech,Cass Jones and even Chris Moyles as “Chris
Holmes” – Radio Luxembourg,The
Station of The Stars!
You'll also have seen Enda as a movie extra in
a number of top Irish productions including 'Angela’s
Ashes’ as the hospital porter!
As well as his broadcasting commitments, Enda
still has time to indulge himself in his other
great passions - keeping fit, canoeing, classic
cars, fine wine and learning the Luxembourgish
and French languages.
Date of Birth
28th March 1975 in Dublin,Ireland
Why Radio?
Because it’s the best job in the world playing
records and using my natural Irish “gift
of the gab” and hey I even get paid for
it!
What are your defining moments of Rock
N’Roll ?
Watching Live Aid in 1985 and seeing Rock history
in the making Growing up in the 80’s near
Slane Castle in Co.Meath,Ireland where Dylan,The
Stones, Thin Lizzy,Santana Bowie,Queen,UB40, The
Bangles, Neil Young, REM, Oasis, The Verve, Bryan
Adams, Guns N' Roses, Faith No More Moby, Red
Hot Chili Peppers, J. Geils Band, Pearl Jam, Manic
Street Preachers and many more of the world’s
top Rock Acts played live in a natural amphitheatre
open air setting. One of the best memories of
Slane for me was age 1985 standing on the front
lawn of my parent’s home and hearing Bruce
Springsteen perform his many hits so loud I could
hear them clearly in the air almost 7 miles away
– that was an electric day for me! It’s
still said to have been the best ever concert
Slane hosted! Another defining moment was age
6 hearing Radio Nova Dublin playing Golden Brown
by The Stranglers…Van Halen and ZZ Top Videos
on MT USA with Vincent Hanley in 1984.. Top Of
The Pops every Thursday night and hearing Spin
Doctors “Two Princes” at after concert
teenage Discos in Ireland in 1992!
Pick one thing that typifies all that
is good about Luxembourg then? Bofferding!
Favourite haunts in Ireland?
Belfast for the friendliness of the people and
great shops and the pubs along The Coast in places
like Dalkey and Killiney.Wicklow truly also lives
up to it’s name as “The Garden Of
Ireland” All of The West Of Ireland,Carlingford
in Louth and the entire area of Northern Ireland.
What would you say that you miss most
about The UK & Ireland? Starbucks
and KFC!! (some would say that’s a good
thing!)
Finally, what would you say is your motto
for life?
It’s important to dream and to do your best
to achieve those dreams as one day they may quite
well come true!
