SALLY CARTER

Sally Carter is an old fashioned Northern lass who has accidentally been living in Luxembourg for over ten years.

Why ‘accidentally’?
I accepted a job offer that I hadn’t realised was based in a country I’d barely heard of but that I was pretty certain was somewhere near Switzerland. Oh, and I was definitely only going to stay a year….

Pick one thing that typifies all that is good about Luxembourg then?
Got to be the delicious local beer. It’s a well kept secret….

What items would you advise a visitor to pop in the suitcase if planning a trip over?

A raincoat, a camera, a pair of hollow legs, a large packet of chocolate digestives (as a present for me).

Favourite haunts in Britain?
Down by the river in Richmond, Surrey on a sunny day. Shell beach, Herm in the Channel Islands – to go there is to fall in love. Grafton Street, Dublin for fashion and friendliness. Any large shopping centre just before Christmas complete with the traditional OTT decorations and the mad crowds.

What would you say that you miss most about Britain?
London (all of it), the theatre, proper builder’s tea, my Grandma.

Name your all time favourite band / artist?
David Bowie. Always has been, always will be. Well, this week anyway…

Care to mention a few more of your favourite things?
An evening spent among friends, a good glass of wine, sushi, chocolate biscuits, chocolate buttons, (alright, alright, pretty much anything involving chocolate will make the list. Come to think of it, food of any kind…).

Dislikes?
Bad drivers, tuna sandwiches, putting on weight.

Finally, what would you say is your motto for life?
There’s never a mickling without a muckling. And it’s absolutely true!
